Product specific videos are incredibly powerful marketing tools.  Most customers when purchasing a product search for information, looking for credibility and specification, before comparing to similar alternative products.
It is important to inform viewers of the products quality and features, but what is equally important is the perception of that product compared to its competition.

When promoting a product or service, there are a few types of videos that you should consider:

Promotion / Teaser

Most popular is a promotional video capturing the essence of the product.  Short promo videos can work effectively as teaser video content in the lead up to a product launch.

Lifestyle

With certain products, it is really important to help the viewer envisage their lives with the product itself.  A lifestyle film puts the product in an aspirational, yet attainable setting with like minded people featured.  It allows the potential customer to envisage how their lives would be better with the product.

Technical

A technical product video would showcase the features and specifications of your product.  This could include everything from USP’s, to the products dimensions.  Anything a potential customer might want to know or better understand before making a purchasing decision.

Case study

Hearing from current users can build credibility and also help the potential customer envisage the product in their own life.  This can be anything from short testimonials to camera, to full blown case study films, where you get a glimpse into that persons life and how they are using the product.

How to (aftercare)

Often overlooked, but ‘How to” videos, or FAQ films can be useful.  Before making a purchase, it reassures the potential customer that there is helpful videos if they need it.  It says the company cares, and it provides solid aftercare to its customers, reducing client service calls and enquiries and maximising clients usage of the product itself, strengthening brand reputation and repeat business.
